“Dr. DeLurgio and Dr. Blom worked with me from 2009 to 2012, through a fairly intensive modification with braces and bands to correct my bite. Both of them were highly professional throughout this lengthy process (which involved a lot of work on my part) and although there were necessary adjustments and compromises to their original plan, the results were excellent. I’m posting this review in 2018 because 6 years after the major work was completed they are still providing me with annual check-ups, to make sure their original work meets my needs. Which it does. This after care was included in the original price and speaks to pride in their work and a commitment to their patients. If you visit Dr. DeLurgio’s practice in Citrus Heights (Dr. Blom since retired), you’ll note that it’s clean and comfortable, with a variety of up to date reading literature and comfortable seating. They also have a really clean and well appointed patient restroom. All these small details demonstrate their team’s focus on customer care. From my point of view as a patient, I was happy to do business with them and grateful for their orthodontics expertise. “I wore braces in high school but did not wear my retainers. So, many years later, my bottom teeth were very crowded. I wanted to get them straighten for a long time, but kept putting it off because of the drama involved with braces. I kept rationalizing all the reasons not to get braces again. But, my bottom teeth kept bothering me. A few months ago I was talking to my dentist about it and he said, why not go for it? He recommend Dr. Blom and Dr. DeLurgio.
I made an appointment and was happily surprised. I was given several options and they really listened to my concerns. Due to their professionalism (including their awesome staff), I decided to go for it. I have had my braces on the lower teeth for two months and people are noticing how straight my teeth have gotten and commenting on it. Wow, I thought I was the only one that really noticed the crowding.

When you first walk in you are greeted with Kelly’s (the receptionist) gorgeous smile, which in itself should be a showcase for the talent at this office. I had braces as a child and my bite was still perfect but my retainer had broken many years prior and all I needed was my front teeth straighten. Before finding Drs. “I ended up at Dr. DeLurgio’s office after my general dentist put on veneers. They were awful-too large, flipped off 3 times in 4 months and simply did not look natural. Dr. DeLurgio worked as a team with Dr Paul Katz and now I have a GREAT, natural looking smile. Dr. DeLurgio straightened my teeth and Dr Katz created my veneers. Dr DeLurgio is the best-personable, skilled and at the top of her game.
Caution: You need a highly skilled dentist to do veneers. The moment my first veneers went in, my mouth started moving rapidly because the veneers did not fit properly. So I ended up paying for TWO sets of veneers AND I had to go through teeth straightening! Choose wisely.”

“Hi everyone,
I’m 26 years old and have had traditional braces for almost a year. Doctors DeLurgio and Blom along with their support staff have well exceeded my expectations in care, financial management, and competency. Here are the answers to a few questions I had before getting my braces on:
-They’re affordable! This office offers great payment options.
-They’re all helpful and genuinely care about me as a patient. They consistently ensure that I’m comfortable and understand where we are in the process and what comes next.
-It doesn’t matter how old you are; braces can brighten a smile at any age! I’ve met several other adults (ages 50+) with braces and every one has enjoyed the experience.
-You’ll stop noticing them in your mouth after about a week. The brain is astounding in its ability to recognize what’s important and what can be ignored. They aren’t very painful at all. I’d say the most painful part was having spacers!
-I do not suffer from a lisp! They’re a little awkward at first but have no effect on my speech.
-Based on what I read online, I had assumed that I’d constantly have excess spit. Thankfully I don’t. Woo hoo!
-Doctors DeLurgio and Blom not only straighten teeth but also correct the way teeth fit together when the mouth is closed. Before heading to their office, I didn’t know how important this aspect is. Misaligned teeth can cause several health problems, but not all orthodontists address the issue. (I think there’s a page about this on their website.)
-After getting the hang of flossing (maybe a week or so) it can be done in just a few minutes. My favorites are Glide Floss and Waterpik. (Though Waterpik probably isn’t a substitute for a thorough flossing. I like to use it in the morning without string floss and at night after string floss.)
-I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to eat outside of my house because food would get stuck on the brackets. It’s actually not a huge deal. Food doesn’t get stuck too badly but I do carry a few Gum Soft-Picks around just in case. If I’m going to be out for several more hours after a meal I just do a quick brushing in the bathroom.
-My full night time floss, brush, tongue scraper, proxabrush, and Waterpik only takes around 10 minutes. I promise it gets faster as you practice!
Most importantly, I feel safe in their care. I have total trust in their abilities and actually enjoy my wire change appointments. I can not recommend them highly enough. If you’re on the fence about where to go, they have a first visit where a doctor looks at your teeth and can let you know what steps come next. What’s awesome is that you don’t have to stay with DeLurgio and Blom after that first visit if you don’t want to, but when I had mine I immediately felt safe and well cared for.
